MPG -> DVD

Q: I do not know why it has to be so very hard to get files from the digital camera (format MPG) to a DVD that I can play in the DVD player. I would have thought it would have been easy. Not so. I have spent several hours on this. The program that came with the camera will not write to a DVD, it claims it can not find the it. Others will write to the DVD but they will not play on a DVD player on the TV.

A: Get a Mac... I will be update this for PC die-hards in the next couple of days.

  1. There are free and not-so free options of course. One company has a very nice one-time payment option for all of their tools (http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-converter.aspx) allowing you to convert from many formats and burn to disc.

    The usual issue is that the host computer does not have the CODECs needed to burn a DVD readable in a standard consumer DVD home moving picture player. You might be able to just search for free wmp codecs and download and install them.

    Roxio and/or Nero are very good burning software packages and should allow for the compiling of the data from the camcorder and putting it onto disc as well.

    Worse case scenario, try something like this: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/MPEG_Audio_Players_and_Editors/MPEG_to_DVD_Burner_Download.html

    No promises, no endorsements.
